PUTRAJAYA, Jan 13, 2015 - Twenty-six winners of the third and fourth series of the Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Scheme Initiation (Superb) received grants worth RM500,000 each from Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today.
In his speech, the Prime Minister said the winners were selected based on their ability, creative and innovative ideas, as well as displaying high potentials in business.
He said successful Superb applicants from series one to four accounted for only 1.5 per cent or 54 entrepreneurs.
"This means that those who succeeded and won Superb grants may be regarded as creme de la creme - an inspiration for budding Bumiputera entrepreneurs," he said at the Superb winners announcement at Perdana Putra here today.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar were present.
Najib said since its inception in February last year, Superb registered a record participation of more than 4,000 Bumiputera entrepreneurs nationwide. He hoped the third and fourth series of Superb winners would become a catalyst for young entrepreneurs to succeed by capitalising on their ability and creative ideas.
Superb, launched with a RM100 million fund for three years, is aimed at helping young Bumiputera entrepreneurs find their footing in business through business ingenuity and enterprise. The participants under the programme are shortlisted by the Bumiputera Agenda Driving Unit before winners are chosen by a professional panel.
